WELCOME! 2017-2018 School Year!
Dear Parents,
Hello and welcome to Second grade at Garfield Elementary. I am looking forward to a fun-filled learning experience and hope you and your child are as well.
Please allow me to share a little about myself with you. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University and I became Nationally Board Certified in November of 2011. This is my 11th year teaching and my 4th year at Garfield. I married my incredible husband, Matt, in 2016 and we welcomed our first child, Will, in March 2017. I have several interests and hobbies that I enjoy. Some of these are reading, exploring the beautiful city of Chicago, and cooking! I also love spending time with my family and friends who have been my biggest supporters over the years.
I believe education is a very critical part of success. Along with that, I believe that all children can learn and succeed. With the right support and tools, I plan to help my students not only master this year's content, but be prepared for next year as well. In order for this to happen, I encourage you to be involved in the classroom and at home. Parents are a child’s first educator and I believe if we work together as a team, it will help your child to strive for success. You can expect open communication and understanding from me. I will also be willing to assist you and your child with any education concern or conflict you may have.
